- Findings: Crashed in the South China Sea at 1311 hours off USS Enterprise while conducting Surface Search and Targeting mission.
Immediately following Case I launch, aircraft commenced left clearing turn and developed uncontrollable left roll.
Sequenced aircrew ejection commenced with all four seats leaving aircraft at approximately 130 degrees left wing down attitude.
Aircraft impacts the water with greater than 150 degrees of roll.
One survivor and two aircrew bodies recovered by the plane guard helicopter.
One aircrew (Pilot) was not recovered.
Aircraft sank in 1720 fathoms of water.
Ejection occurred five seconds after aircraft cleared the catapult.
Photo of aircraft during catapult stroke shows leading edge flaps in up position, trailing edge flaps appear to be symmetrically extended.
No final determination could be made for cause of the mishap.
