- Cause: Aircraft Mechanical Failure
- Findings: Crashed at approximately 0510 hours, during recovery aboard USS Constellation. Approximately 15 minutes into the flight, the #1 Hydraulic Level caution light illuminated, indicates that the #1 Hydraulic reservoir has less than 2 gallons of Hydraulic fluid remaining. The Hydraulic pressure remained at 3,000 PSI. The aircraft made uneventful arrestment, engaging the #2 wire. The flight deck crew initiated an arresting gear pullback. During the pull back, the PLAT camera indicates that the nose wheel castered 110 degrees to the port side. The tail hook retracted normally. The aircraft carrier initiated a turn to starboard, the mishap aircraft applied power to stop the backward motion and started to taxi forward, as pilot transmitted 'Lost Brakes', lowered tail hook to indicate to flight deck crew that aircraft had lost brakes. The aircraft continued to taxi to the port side of the ship went over the scupper and into the netting. Ejection was initiated. Shortly after ejection, the mishap aircraft fell through the netting and impacted the water.
Thunderstorms were in the area and deck had water puddles and was slippery.
Cause: lost of hydraulics
Crew of 2 ejected safely
